FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

You often ask us these questions

The first "G" stands for Gidly. It is the first word ever spoken by the founder's daughter. This is how the company that eventually became G&G filtration was named. The second "G" stands for Growth, representing our commitment to being modern, evolving, and providing our clients with the very best solutions.

A modern approach for the younger generation. From the very beginning, we chose to focus on 3D models in SolidWorks. Building an extensive database of models was time-consuming, but it has paid off. Today, we can provide clients with specific 3D models of filtration equipment that match their exact requirements from the outset. This gives us a significant competitive edge over those relying solely on DWG drawing databases.

It is precisely because we want to be different. We believe that established companies often focus on selling spare parts—selling as cheaply as possible and then charging high fees for frequent servicing. That is not how we operate. Our goal is to provide equipment that, ideally, will never require servicing.

Under G&G Global, the subsidiaries Filtration, Production, Control, AI solutions, Building, Accounting operate as distinct divisions that collaborate on projects. They are registered under separate VAT numbers to facilitate easier economic evaluation of each individual division.

Size is not the deciding factor in this case. While we supply compact filtration units with a capacity of 1000 m3/h for extraction tables, we also manufacture and deliver large-scale filtration systems for foundries with capacities ranging from 270,000 m3/h to 400,000 m3/h. Our priority is always to produce the filter as efficiently as possible, transport it to the client, and ensure a smooth installation. Small filters are shipped in full, while large filters are divided into sections suitable for road and sea freight.

We have filtration units in El Salvador, the USA, Mexico, Canada, and Argentina. As for Europe, we are present in almost every country. Distance is not an issue; with proper packaging, our equipment can travel anywhere in the world.

Since our founding, we have maintained stable pricing. We offset the rising costs of raw materials and wages through manufacturing efficiency and equipment optimisation. Our goal is to ensure that our equipment remains both high-performing and cost-effective.

Fabric filters are heavier, more complex, and certainly more costly to invest in than cartridge filters, which saturate the market. However, they offer one undeniable advantage: low operating costs. We guarantee a lifespan of at least 20,000 operating hours for our bag filters. Compared to cartridge filters with a lifespan of only 2,000 to 4,000 hours, the difference is significant. We rarely produce cartridge filters anymore, and only in very limited cases for basic extraction. Customers who consider long-term operating costs rather than just the initial investment almost always choose textile filters. The maintenance costs for our bag filters are approximately 10% of those for cartridge filters. This is because we are manufacturers, not just spare parts distributors.

We have tested and designed this type of filter slats. Although they have a lifespan of approximately 40,000 operating hours, they are not economically viable. They have an operating pressure drop approximately 1,000 Pa higher than textile filters. This means the client requires a fan with higher pressure, necessitating a larger electric motor. Consequently, these filters result in a measurable 28–36% increase in electricity consumption required for extraction at higher pressures. This is not economically sensible; therefore, we do not consider fused filter slats and advise clients to evaluate operating costs as the sum of filter media replacement costs and electricity usage. Based on this calculation, textile filters emerge as the superior choice.

Yes, absolutely. We are evolving every day, which is essential for us to remain industry leaders. We are currently expanding our online presence to ensure we reach every country across Europe. International trade is increasingly becoming the dominant factor, and we see this as a vast, almost limitless potential. We are integrating AI into our workflows, marketing, and manufacturing processes. Without constant modernisation and growth, our work would lose its spark.

A team of colleagues who truly care about our work. From sales and project management to engineering, production, AI implementation, and accounting – every member contributes to the collective expertise of G&G. I am proud to have built such a dedicated team.

Almost everything. But I certainly wouldn't go back in time. Every mistake we made in the past brought about corrections and improvements. That is why we view mistakes as one of the most important drivers for growth that propel us forward.

YES. This is where the difference between a cartridge and a textile filter is most evident. A client who previously used a cartridge filter, constantly replacing expensive cartridges, switched to a fabric filter and never went back to a cartridge system. That is the best reference.

Yes, and we would be delighted to help. It is our core mission. For these purposes, we have developed Ceramic JET ceramic filters and Steel JET filters with a stainless steel filter medium. Our filters most commonly filter exhaust gases at temperatures between 250 - 350 °C, but we can also accommodate higher temperatures for continuous extraction processes.

We would like to have a standard range of filtration units, but the reality is that every customer's requirements are slightly different, and practically no two filtration units are identical. We manufacture everything to custom specifications, with our designers and engineers providing expert support during the design phase. We consider bespoke manufacturing of filtration units to be one of our key competitive advantages.

The exhaust fan is the primary consumer of electrical energy within the filtration system, accounting for 95% to 99% of the total power consumption. We recommend regulating the fan's output using a frequency converter in combination with automatic dampers to ensure suction is only active where needed. This approach can reduce electricity consumption by up to 50%.

Crucial. When comparing power consumption at a constant flow rate for a fan with 80% efficiency, every additional 100Pa results in a 5% increase in the fan's electricity consumption. Therefore, operating a clogged filter with a pressure drop 1000 Pa higher means your electricity consumption is 50% higher. It is more cost-effective to replace the filter medium as a one-off expense rather than paying for increased operating costs over the entire lifespan of the filtration system.

This cannot be simply defined in a single way. The loading of the filter surface, or the filtration rate expressed in m3/m2/min, depends on the temperature of the flowing air—not its viscosity—as well as the type of dust being extracted and the specific operating conditions. For example, the required filtration rate for welding fumes is 1.9 m3/m2/min, while for graphite dust, it is 0.9 m3/m2/min. This is a highly specific parameter based on experience that should be consulted personally.

You deal with it every time you vacuum dust that is combustible or explosive. This typically includes wood shavings, coal dust, flour, sugar, but also aluminium or certain plastics. Inside the filter, this dust mixes with the air, and a single spark is all it takes for an accident to occur. ATEX legislation ensures that equipment can safely manage such explosions to keep everyone safe. However, we take care of all those complexities for you.

We use a combination of active and passive protective elements. The filter construction is mechanically reinforced (resistant to blast pressure). By default, we equip the filter with relief membranes that safely redirect the pressure wave into an open space in the event of an explosion. If the filter is located inside a hall, we install flameless venting.

We guarantee residual emissions well below EU legal limits – typically ranging from 0.5 to 1 mg/m³ max 2. We achieve this using highly efficient textile bags made from microporous non-woven fabrics. The air behind the filter is so clean that you can safely release it back into heated areas during the winter months. In practice, this saves you thousands of crowns annually by preventing expensive heat from escaping through the windows.

Yes, that is standard practice for us. We design the entire equipment in SolidWorks, so we provide a complete 3D model (most commonly in STEP format) for your designers or general contractors. This allows you to seamlessly integrate the filtration technology into your project. Our models provide precise data regarding the dimensions and weight of the equipment. Should you require DWG files, we can provide those as well, although such requests are becoming less common each year.

The name “Gustaf” originated from an internal company practice where, during telephone conversations, the email address was often pronounced as “ggf – Gustav Gustav Franta”. This naturally evolved into a memorable and clear abbreviation. The term gradually spread among other employees and became a standard part of the corporate lexicon, including the informal naming of the company’s animals—two hares and a hedgehog that made their home in the courtyard. Therefore, the name GustaF was chosen for the AI assistant as a natural continuation of this internal identity and practical communication standard.
