Issues in the laser and plasma extraction process
The extraction of fumes during laser or plasma machining ensures the extraction and filtration of harmful substances in the form of fumes and smoke that are released during the cutting of material. The extraction system is connected to the extraction table and ensures the extraction of fumes from below. During laser and plasma extraction, dust particles, particles of the material being cut and sparks are also part of the extracted fumes.
The filter system is equipped with a spark arrestor to reduce the risk of the filter unit catching fire. We use textile filter units, always equipped with automatic regeneration of the filter medium by means of pressurized air. When using a secondary filtration stage, the filtered air exhausted from the laser or plasma can be returned to the production hall. We provide extraction from burning machines not only for metal materials but also for cutting plastic, leather, paper or other laser engraving machines.
Laser CNC machines are equipped from the manufacturer with tables that have a connection flange for the extraction device. The extraction always takes place from the bottom, i.e. under the material being cut. Professional CNC machines are equipped with automatic flaps that open/close the table suction sections wherever the cutting head is moving.
The filtration system is equipped with a spark separator located in the exhaust pipe. The spark separator separates the inlet sparks and coarse dirt before entering the filtering system. The filter media are either filter cartridges with high temperature resistant material or filter fabric hoses. The type of filter material and filter construction are selected according to the outlook of the filtration technology and the space available for the location of the filter unit. The filter unit is always equipped with automatic regeneration of the filter medium by means of pressurized air. Regeneration is automatic in relation to the pressure loss of the filter. The exhaust fan is located on the filtered air side. The pressure class of the fan is selected according to the distance between the burning machine and the filtering device. Most often we use fans with pressure from 2500 Pa to 3500 Pa. We distribute the filtered air in summer / winter mode, where in winter the air is returned to the hall space, where it is distributed into the space using a secondary filter - a filter sleeve. Over the summer period the filtered air is blown outdoors.
