PROBLEMS OF OIL MIST AND AEROSOL EXTRACTION PROCESS
Oil mist extraction is an application characteristic of CNC machining using cooling emulsion. When machining with high-speed tools, a large amount of thermal energy is released and for this reason, a cooling emulsion is used to cool the tool and the workpiece. In a CNC machine, the cooling emulsion is sprayed into an aerosol formed by microdroplets of cooling emulsion. At the same time, evaporation of the emulsion occurs due to high temperatures during machining. The evaporation of the emulsion produces oil vapour. In the absence of CNC machine exhaust, the oil emulsion and vapours are spread into the production hall through leaks in the machine enclosure.
Oil mist extraction can be implemented locally, where each CNC machine is equipped with its own oil mist separator. For central extraction of oil mist from a group of machines, central aerosol separators are used, equipped with an extraction fan with the possibility of controlling the extraction power. We install automatically controlled dampers on the individual extraction machines, which are controlled according to the CNC machine used. The extraction piping for the oil mist extraction system must be of a tight design so that oil condensate does not flow through the piping joints.
